Autumn Term 2025-2026 Gods and Mortals
⭐️ Stars of the Week ⭐️
We've had a fantastic week in class! Everyone worked really hard and did brilliantly in their reading and numeracy tests. After completing our amazing hot write biographies about the ancient Greek philosopher Archimedes, we've now started our exciting new writing journey—list poems! Next week, we’re looking forward to learning even more about the ancient Greeks and how they lived, as well as finishing off our last numeracy assessment. Well done, everyone!
Dear Parents and Carers,
Over the past few weeks, the children have been exploring the fascinating world of Ancient Greece. We've been comparing the homes, jobs, and lifestyles of the rich and poor in ancient Greek society, and investigating some intriguing artefacts from the time.
In Literacy, the class has been learning all the key skills needed to write a biography. After lots of hard work and planning, they produced some fantastic pieces all about the famous Greek philosopher and inventor, Archimedes.
In Maths, we've been focusing on adding 3-digit numbers using partitioning methods. The children have shown great perseverance and progress in their understanding.
It’s been another fantastic week, and the children should be very proud of all they’ve achieved!
Looking ahead to next week, we will be completing the national online assessments for numeracy and reading.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mr Jones

Over the past two weeks, everyone has settled in brilliantly and adapted well to their new routines. The children have been working hard and producing some fantastic work across all subjects.
In maths, we've been focusing on place value in 3-digit numbers. The children have been developing their mental maths skills by learning how to add and subtract tens and ones using their understanding of place value.
In literacy, we've begun our first learning journey on biographies. We've explored a range of excellent examples and have been learning how to write in the past tense, third person, and how to structure our writing into clear paragraphs.
Our Ancient Greece topic has been full of exciting discoveries! We've learned about the god Zeus, researched our favourite gods and goddesses, and used maps to locate key towns, mountains, and seas in Greece.
Forest School has been a huge hit! The children are thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to learn new skills and explore nature in our school woodland.
It was lovely to see so many of you at our Meet the Teacher evening. The presentation slides are now available on the class website. I'm looking forward to Parents' Evening soon, where we'll have the chance to talk about each child's progress individually.
I’m also incredibly proud to share that our class has achieved the Best Attendance Award for the last two weeks, well done everyone!

We’ve had a wonderful first week back in year 3! The children have settled in really well to their new class and already becoming confident with the new routines of the juniors. It’s been lovely to see their enthusiasm for learning and the positive way they have supported each other and our new members of the class, as they start their new stage of their school journey.
