Our Learning Journey
Autumn Term 2025-2026
Our topic this term is ‘Misty Mountain Sierra' and 'Misty Mountain, Winding River’. The main focus will be Humanities, especially Geography. During this topic your child will research and learn about a range of mountains and rivers in Wales and will explore different maps to identify both human and physical geography. This map work will involve using grid references and contour lines. In addition, they will study physical processes such as erosion, transportation and deposition and investigate the water cycle. Pupils will also have the opportunity to experiment with different media to create artworks inspired by the topic. Throughout this topic we will cover many aspects of the Science & Technology and Expressive Arts AOLEs with the focus on Cynefin and environmental changes.

Spring Term 2026
Our topic this term is ‘Potions and States of Matter’
This term, our topic is Potions, which links closely to science as we explore states of matter. Pupils will learn how substances can change and react in different ways. We will begin by looking at the historic use of potions – how they were used in the past for medicine, magic, and everyday life. This will give children a fascinating insight into how ideas about science have developed over time.
In science, we will be classifying solids, liquids, and gases, and investigating how materials change state through melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation. We’ll explore measuring temperature and will carry out practical investigations such as observing melting and recording results using line graphs. Pupils will work scientifically by observing changes over time and looking for patterns.

Summer Term 2026
This term, our topic is Burps, Bottoms and Bile, which links closely to science as we explore how the human body works. Pupils will learn about keeping their bodies healthy, with a particular focus on teeth, hygiene and the digestive system. We will begin by investigating different types of teeth and how decay happens, before moving on to follow the journey food takes through the body. This will give children an engaging and meaningful understanding of the importance of healthy choices.
In science, pupils will take part in practical investigations to explore tooth decay, food digestion and the effects of different foods on our health. They will develop their working scientifically skills through predicting, observing, recording and evaluating. Children will also learn about healthy eating, nutrition and how humans depend on their bodies working well.
