Spring Term 2025-2026
What a Fantastic Start to the Spring Term!
We’ve had a brilliant first week back, and everyone has settled in really well! The children have already produced lots of work to be proud of!
Maths:
This week, we began learning about fractions, and next week we’ll be using division to find fractions of numbers. To support this, the children have been encouraged to practise simple division questions at home using fun, free apps and websites such as Hit The Button.
Literacy:
Our new writing journey has started with a focus on writing instructions. The children are exploring how to make their writing clear and easy to follow.
Topic – Rocks, Relics and Rumbles:
We’ve kicked off our topic by investigating what rocks are made of, how they are formed, and comparing natural and man-made rocks. We also looked at their uses in everyday life, lots of fascinating discoveries already!
If any parents, relatives, or friends are geologists and would be willing to visit the school to talk to the children about their work, please let me know—this would be a fantastic experience for the class
Reminders:
- Swimming begins next Wednesday.
- PE has now moved to Tuesday afternoons.
Dear Parents and Children,
I hope you all had a great break and managed to enjoy some time to relax and recharge. Whether you celebrated Christmas or simply enjoyed the holidays, I’d like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2026!
I also want to say a big thank you for the thoughtful cards and the incredibly generous gifts. It was very much appreciated, and I’m truly grateful for your kindness.
I’m really looking forward to getting back into the classroom this week and seeing all the children again. We’ve got an exciting new topic to kick off the term: “Rocks, Relics and Rumbles.”
Here’s a quick overview of what we’ll be exploring:
This topic links directly to our local heritage, as South Wales has a rich history of coal mining, which shaped communities and landscapes. Learning about rocks, soils, fossils, and the Earth’s layers helps children understand the natural resources that influenced Welsh industry and culture. It also connects to global concepts such as volcanoes, earthquakes, and the water cycle, fostering curiosity about how the Earth works and how these processes impact human life.
It’s going to be a fascinating term, and I can’t wait to see the children’s enthusiasm as we dive into this new learning adventure.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a brilliant start to the year!
