Spring Term 2025- 2026 Tudors and Stuarts
Our topic this term is; 'The Tudors and Stuarts.'
This term, your child will travel back in time to explore one of the most dramatic and influential periods in British history, the age of the Tudors and Stuarts. Learners will investigate key events such as the reign of Henry VIII, the Gunpowder Plot, and the English Civil War. They’ll uncover how monarchs ruled, how religion shaped society, and how life changed for ordinary people.
Through immersive activities like historical role-play, debates, timelines, and creative projects, children will develop a deeper understanding of the past while building essential skills across the curriculum. They’ll explore cause and consequence, compare lives across centuries, and reflect on how history helps us understand the world today.
Literacy and numeracy are embedded throughout as pupils write persuasive speeches, analyse historical sources, and interpret data from the time. The topic also encourages collaboration, critical thinking, and empathy as learners consider different perspectives and the impact of decisions made long ago.
By the end of the topic, pupils will not only know more about the Tudors and Stuarts, but also understand how history shapes identity, values, and society.
